Recreation -Adult Trips (50+ years)

Adult Trips are for adults, age 50 years and better. NOTE: There is NO REFUND for trips after the registration deadline, the exception is IF there is a Wait List for the trip AND space can be filled. Our Program Registration Form is located in the panel to the right. Beginning in August 2014, a "Household" must be established in the system in order to register for programs and trips. The form is available on the Home Page or at the Clarendon Hills Park District office. Click to download & print, then fax to 630-323-5362, mail or walk in. Please Note: Payment for classes is required to reserve a spot.

All trips include transportation on air-conditioned 35 passenger bus. We attempt to give you as much information ADULT DAY TRIPS as possible regarding the amount of walking required during each trip. The symbols below will allow you to make a more informed decision regarding trip registration.

TULIP FESTIVAL (3 shoes)
Thursday, May 10

There is no better way to welcome spring than to enjoy it in Holland, Michigan.  This day will include visits to Veldheer’s Tulip farm; Windmill Island Gardens; and shopping in downtown Holland.  You will get a chance to see wooden shoes being made, as well as traditional wooden shoe dancing.  Most of all---TULIPS!  This tour includes motor coach transportation, all admissions, and lunch (You will choose from 2 selections off the menu). Don’t forget your camera!  DEADLINE TO REGISTER FOR THIS TOUR IS TUESDAY, APRIL 10.

LAKE GENEVA CRUISE & BAKER HOUSE (2 shoes)

Relax and enjoy all the scenic beauty of the lake as we cruise completely around the lovely Lake Geneva. We will be provided with an in-depth history of the estates and areas such as Williams Bay, Fontana, Yerkes Observatory, and Black Pointe Estate. This tour is approximately 1-1/2 hours long. Before we board the boat for the lake tour, we will have a delicious lunch at the Baker House. We will also have some time to shop in beautiful downtown Lake Geneva. SILVER CREEK ANTIQUE STEAM TRAIN ADVENTURE (3 shoes)

This is a day filled with history, as we ride the rails aboard a 1912 Heisler steam locomotive for a 4-mile trip through farmlands and over a bridge 30 feet above Yellow Creek. We will tour the Silver Creek Museum, before heading to historic Freeport, where we will tour the Victorian Oscar Taylor home at the Stephenson County Historical Museum, which includes a log cabin and underground railroad room. After lunch (choice of Cheese Tortellini or Herb Chicken Breast) we will travel to Little Cubs Field, an exact replica of Wrigley Field. Before we leave for home, we will make a stop at the site of the 2nd Lincoln-Douglas Debate, where we will be treated to a history lesson by a Lincoln Scholar. You will have time to stop at the Union Dairy before boarding the bus for home where you may purchase some delicious ice cream treats. Bring your cameras and walking shoes for this trip to the past. STAR OF SAUGATUCK PADDLEBOAT (2 shoes)

Spend the day with us in beautiful Saugatuck Michigan as we lunch, shop, and cruise. We will enjoy lunch at Coral Gables, a beautiful restaurant on the river, before boarding the Star of Saugatuck for a 90-minute cruise down the Kalamazoo River and Lake Michigan. We may make a brief stop at Crane Orchards and Pie Pantry for home-made treats and seasonal fruit before continuing on to Saugatuck. This tour includes deluxe motor coach transportation, lunch (choice of Potato Crusted Cod or Chicken Marsala) and boat tour. We will make a dinner stop on the way home (dinner is on your own). BIKES, BRATS, & BEER (3 shoes)

Spend a day in Milwaukee, as we begin with a self-guided tour of the Harley Davidson Museum, where you can learn about the history of these famous motorcycles. We will continue to downtown Milwaukee, where we will enjoy an authentic German Sampler Platter for lunch at Maders, one of the oldest restaurants in Milwaukee. After lunch we will take a brief tour of the Pabst Brewery, where we will learn the history of the brewery and sample their products (You must be 21 years old). If time permits, we may make a stop at the Mars Cheese Castle for treats. This tour includes deluxe motor coach transportation, lunch, and museum and brewery admissions. SUMMER LUNCHEON

What a great way to spend an afternoon with old (and new) friends, great food and music to enjoy and sing along! A buffet lunch with dessert and live entertainment will be offered. The summer is hot, so come relax and keep cool with your friends at CHPD! Pre-registration at the Park District is required. Non-resident guests may register for the luncheon beginning July 31 if space available. (KF)
